First off, check with your local laws to see if you need a permit to add a patio and if there are any restrictions involved. Once you know what you are allowed to do, you can prepare the foundation to lay your blocks. There are many ways to prepare a patio foundation which are beyond the scope of this article, but basically, make sure that the site is level and properly prepared before laying your completed blocks.

Before you begin the actual work of casting the blocks, draw out your patio plan on a sheet of graph paper. Be sure it is complete with the sizes and shapes of the blocks you would like use, as well as the placement of the blocks to create the design. If you are also measuring with your graph paper, subtract 1/2 inch for the joint between each module for the mortar. You are not limited to rectangles and squares, but can use any shape that you feel you can build a form, or mold, for. But with just 3 different dimensions of rectangular blocks, there are hundreds of possibile ways to arrange them. For simplicity, this article will assume the blocks are rectangles.

DIY Article - Casting Your Own Garden Sculptures in Concrete

Summary: Every garden needs a focal point; something to draw the eye; something of interest other than plants. You can create your own personal concrete sculpture for just that purpose instead of using a tree or a shrub.

Don't worry about not being handy with mallets and chisels, though. This is so easy that all you need for tools will be just a few odds and ends and your fingers. Wood scraps, sand, cement mix and an iron rod are the basic materials.

Anything your imagination can conjure up is an apt subject for a free-standing garden sculpture, even an abstract shape if you'd like, but choose a shape that will be stable when it is sitting on its base The sculptures that this method produces have totally flat backs.

I'll use an Easter Island type of tiki face for the example, the back of which will be completely flat.

Before getting started, please be sure to wear gloves when working with either wet or dry cement.

Review of the RACsuccess Package

The RACsuccess Package is a collection of 40 video clips and 2 informational guides for both buyers and coders of the Rent a Coder (RAC) website. Ease of Use

Attractive Interface

Just let it load its own default configuration and it is done. All I had to do was click the icon on my desktop to start the program.

The Most Positive Things

One of the things I really like is that if I need to check another window, or if I have a chat coming in, I can click the window my tray and the RACsuccess Package will politely minimize and get out of my way. And, it will put my screen back to my usual working resolution. When I want to go back to the program, I just click the icon in the tray, just like any other program, and it pops right back up where I left off.

I also like the ability to search the videos by title. Ok, sure, so a specific video was easy to find, but how good are they? I have to say that they are superb. Not only are they varied in the information and tips presented, but they are also up-to-date with the latest information on how Rent A Coder works. The technical quality is consistent throughout all the clips, and they are all shown at an easily viewable full screen resolution of 1024x768, not the usual tiny 480x320 resolution you see with most website videos.

This brings me to another point...

The Most Negative Thing ... is a Good Thing!

I had heard that some people complained that the RACsuccess Package changes their screen resolution. This is true, it changes whatever your current display settings are to its own 1024 x 768 every time it opens, but only for the RACsuccess Package's purpose. This is actually good thing! It makes the experience of watching the videos more enjoyable because you actually get to watch the videos at almost full screen, allowing you see the details. Of course, your original screen resolution is always changed back to your original settings whenever you minimize or close the RACsuccess Package, so the effect is only temporary. When you then restore the RACsuccess Package or maximize it, your screen resolution is again set to 1024 x 768. The nice thing about this is that you don't need to have any control over what is happening with your screen resolution; the RACsuccess Package takes control of everything for you.

Do you like to watch videos? I sure do. I'm always looking for something to watch. In fact, I find I can get more out of watching a how-to video than I can from reading an instruction manual or an article about the same thing on the internet. New Video: Merry Christmas

Merry Christmas, Happy Kwanzaa, Happy Chanukah and Happy Holidays to all my international and multilingual friends...and yes, Americans, too! International does not mean "foreigners" in MY head. We are ALL part of an international global community, and we all celebrate "the holidays" in our own ways based on our own religions, cultures, and beliefs.

One of the great things about this country is our Freedom of Religion, the right to worship and celebrate our beliefs while being tolerant of the ways others may celebrate them that differ from our own. Whether you believe in Christmas or not, is your choice, and I appreciate you allowing me to exercise my freedom of choice.

Also on the left-hand panel of the RACsuccess Package application are two links with international style icons to access the guides and videos that will take you to the appropriate area of the program for viewing the videos or reading the guides. When you are on either the video or the guide screen, you can choose either BUYER or CODER from drop-down menu. This makes it easy to know exactly which side of the fence you are on. And the exit button is easily found on the lower right corner.

Now, not only do the videos contain important information, the titles are easy to search for using the RACsuccess Package's search interface on the video page. Sure, a specific video was easy to find, but how good are they? I have to say that they are superb. Not only are they varied in the information and tips presented, but they're also up-to-date with the latest information on how Rent A Coder works. The technical quality is consistent throughout all the clips, and they are all shown at an easily viewable full screen resolution of 1024x768, not the usual tiny 480x320 resolution you see on most website videos.

In fact, it changes whatever your current display settings are to its own 1024 x 768 every time it opens to make the experience of watching the videos more enjoyable at almost full screen resolution. Of course, your original screen resolution is always changed back to your original settings whenever you minimize or close the RACsuccess Package, so the effect is only temporary.

There is one thing this package cannot do; there is no search function for the guides, but the very precise and explicit table of contents should be all you need to find the proper page in a guide. Just enter the page number of the specific page you want to navigate to based on the table of contents.Can you just use it wherever you want to? The short answer is yes, you can use many of the principles in the RACsuccess Package for any freelance bidding website you also be using, but much of the information presented is specific to Rent A coder.
